ITS FINISHED!
I managed to coordinate the cards to be finished just as the rest of the board and box was being complete so Gives me time to play test it!
These images were taken mid game with my girlfriend. Just like in the preliminary tests it works perfectly. Every aspect of it is just how I wanted it to be. It is not hard to fully imagine what the final product look and feel like to play. Very satisfying.
HUBS DONE!
The hubs are finished. I have done three. The third is yellow but I have not done a third deck because I have not got the time or the resources at the moment to complete a third deck by hand in. However I should have a third deck for my degree show so I can demonstrate two to three player capabilities. The game does have the capability for four players but I definatly don't have the time nor the resources to complete that this year.
Landscape Layer
I had to create a third and final layer to the board for the aesthetics of the landscape actually being played on. In the context of echo, the narrative I have been developing on my counterpart blog, I have created this floating island map to be like the floating plains described in the story book. I was going to have loose, moving landscape pieces to allow for more custom maps but due to the limits of my prototype, It wouldn't allow for the layers to be that thick. However I would prefer loose pieces for a final production.
Board Progress
These images show how the hubs and the board slide together. I pretty damn proud of this and I am moving on to make three hubs all together. This also shows why I chose the hexagon shape, with the varying player amount choices its a winner!
Diagram
Now the board and the hubs were almost complete I was able to draw up a simple diagram to go along with the set up explanation in the rules. With this completed the rules are ready to be printed off and bound. Another step taken!
The board is done!
The board is finished with all the layers and I am in the process of constructing the Card hubs and double side printing the cards them selves. I am also formatting a an art/story book as we speak to fill the miscellaneous contents of the box. I have purchased non branded die for the gameplay. Once all complete I shall post up photos with feed back on its success.
Rules Change No2
I Decided that the scenario rules I have been working on are just to over complicated and confusing so I decided that I would simply create make this scenario, in this case, a base battle game. Who ever beats the enemy base first wins.
